Ballarat Bible Study Group: We are a group of people dedicated to God and searching the scriptures.

We are committed to the preaching of the everlasting gospel according to Revelation 14:6-12.
Revelation 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Psalms 119:130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.
We believe in the one true God as described in the Bible. And the one Lord Jesus Christ.
1Corinthians 8:6 "But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him."
We believe in God the Father and his only begotten Son Jesus Christ.
Many modern translations of the Scriptures are watering down or denying Jesus as the only begotten Son of God. The NIV is a prime example of this.
John 3:16 (NIV) "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
Did you catch the significance of what that said. By trying to eliminate the word begotten ( by the way that word means to be born) they have destroyed our hope. If God only had one Son and only one Son, then we can never become sons and daughters of God.
My Bible tells me that we can be sons of God by redemption or adoption.
Gal 4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
Gal 4:5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
Gal 4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
Jesus was begotten (or born) in the exact image of his Father.
Heb 1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
Heb 1:2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
Heb 1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
Heb 1:4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
Question: When was Jesus made so much better than the angels? Was he made better than the angels when he was born of Mary? Absolutely not.
He was made so much better than the angels because he obtained by inheritance a more excellent name than they.
There is only one begotten Son of God. He was not created as the angels were. He was begotten in the very image of His Father and the brightness of his glory.
1John_5:1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
Many believe that Jesus only became the Son of God when he was born in Bethlehem. Unfortunately this idea is not sustained by the Bible. He was already the only begotten Son of God before this world even came into existence.
Notice what King Solomon had to say.
Proverbs 30:4 Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell?
Many centuries before Jesus was born in Bethlehem Solomon knew that God had a Son.
He asks us the question: Do you know what God's Sons name is? Yes we do It is Jesus.
Even the pagan King Nebuchadnezzar acknowledged the Son of God in his day.
Daniel 3:25 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.
Please do not try to wrest these scriptures by saying that Solomon was looking forward to the time when Jesus would be become the Son of God when he was born in Bethlehem. This is pure speculation. We must not bring our preconceived ideas and force them to make the Bible say something that is not there.
This is hard for many to consider because they have a trinitarian concept of God. The trinity is incompatible with the concept of Jesus being the literal real begotten Son of God. The trinity says that God the Father; God the Son; and God the Holy Spirit are three separate beings all being equal in all respects meaning that they would all be the same age all having no beginning. The terms Father and Son are not just role play titles that they take to make us feel good. Jesus is the real literal Son begotten of the Father.
